I just uploaded a video that shows the current state of Plasma Active on Nexus 7. In this video different things are shown:
- The Plasma Active GUI
- Hardware-accelerated Video Playback (1080p)
- Emumaster (an emulator for gaming consoles like SNES etc.)
- Bluetooth support (with an Zeemote remote control)
- Remote control with QZeeControl and an Zeemote remote control
- 3D Hardware Acceleration
Given the native resolution of the Nexus 7, using a video with 1080p admittedly is pointless. However, I wanted to demonstrate that the hardware is capable of playing even 1080p pretty smoothly.

the crash of Okular on zoom it’s the only reason that stop me to flash Plasma Active on my N7 😦

I assume you are referring to emumaster. You can install it from one of my repositories as follows:

It looks really great! I have to say that the Plasma Active, though not given as attention as it deserver, is one of the most awesome tablet projects out there.
Thanks for the video! Makes me want to jump on the tablet bandwagon 🙂 Couldn’t help but notice that there are some size issues. Some objects need to be larger to function nicely on a touch screen. Should be quite low hanging fruit though.
The aspect ratio of the screen is different than that of the Nexus 7.
I am surprised no one else noticed this.

Which operating system is this running on top of? Does all of this:

Work on the Ubuntu image (or whatever base you are using) OOTB or is there setup to make it work somewhere?

Congratulations, you’ve successfully convinced myself that I want to try Active on my Nexus 7. Initially, I was very skeptical about it. Can you please tell us which exact build/OS combination are you using? I’m surprised you achieved all of that. 🙂

First of all, in order to duplicate what you achieved here I would proceed as described in the mer wiki:

and then apply the fixes you posted under ‘Suspend/Resume in Plasma Active on Nexus 7 3G with WWAN’ and ‘Plasma Active on Nexus 7 with Bluetooth’. Or is your work based on a newer image than the one from 07. Jan. 2013?
Secondly, there is also a way to install plasma active in a multiboot setting using MultiRom as described here: https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Community_Workspace/Tegra3/Nexus7/PA_installation#Installing_Plasma_Active_as_an_Additional_Operating_System_.28_with_MultiRom_.29
I would very much like to try this option, but the google docs link in the mer wiki hosts an old plasma active image, which MultiRom does not accept. Do you have any experiance with or any information on this kind of setup. If yes: do you know of a working plasma active image for MultiRom?

Is there a step by step to revert back to Android should we need to? Or do we fastboot and flash TWRP again and then install our ROM of choice at that point? I just want an escape plan.

Just install via Multi ROM. You don’t need an escape plan in that case as Android is not affected
